This rather austere remnant of an ancient cross stands near to the road just outside Llangollen.
It was here Emma arranged to meet her father.
On the pillar was carved the family tree of Cadell ap Brochfael.
Sadly the inscription can no longer be seen, but it was carefully copied by a 17thcentury antiquarian before it succumbed to erosion by the weather, so we know the names of the ancestors of the kings of Powys.
